Winterlude '99 Anaesthesia Symposium has been planned as a one-day conference which will
appeal to both academic and community-based anaesthetists. This year the Morning Session will feature lectures
on Postoperative Analgesia, Pediatric and Obstetrical Anaesthesia and Hyperbaric Medicine. The keynote address
by our guest speaker, Dr. R. Byrick, will explore the new territory of Simulation and Medical Education.
The Afternoon offers Small-Group Sessions with 6 interesting topics from which one may choose
two or three to attend. The format will use clinical case scenarios to promote group discussion. New
this year will be sessions at the U of O Patient Care Simulator. Case discussion will evolve into a new dimension
with group involvement in simulated case scenarios.
After the Symposium, registrants may wish to participate in some of the activities planned for
the weekend during Ottawa's Winterlude Carnival.
