Course Overview

Winterlude 2001 Anesthesia Symposium has been planned as a one-day conference which will appeal to both academic and community-based anesthetists.  This year the Morning Session will feature lectures on Critical Issues in Anesthesia: new modes of ventilation, acute brain injury, pediatric airway emergencies, anti-coagulation issues and perioperative myocardial ischemia.

The afternoon offers Small-Group Sessions with 5 interesting topics from which one may choose three to attend.  The format will use clinical case scenarios to promote group discussion. This year the session at the U of O Patient Care Simulator will be held on the Sunday following the symposium and involves an extra fee.  The session will be limited to 4 participants and we will run 4 complete simulated crisis events.

After the Symposium, registrants may wish to participate in some of the activities planned for the weekend during Ottawa’s Winterlude Carnival.
