Department of Anesthesiology provides anesthesia for a wide variety of vascular procedures at The Ottawa Hospital.
The Division of Vascular Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital provides clinical care primarily to residents of Ottawa-Carleton area, most of Eastern Ontario, parts of Western Quebec and Eastern Canada. All in-patient care has been centralized at the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital which contains one of the largest single-site clinic and operating room volumes for vascular surgery in Canada. Department of Anesthesiology members provide anesthesia services in management of cerebrovascular, thoracic, abdominal and peripheral vascular arterial, venous and lymphatic disease, as well as for provision of permanent vascular access for hemodialysis.
The Division of Vascular Surgery in Ottawa runs one of the most active endovascular stent graft programs in Canada for the management of thoracic and abdominal aortic pathology in addition to traditional surgery. It also runs a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited Residency Program in Vascular Surgery.
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Ottawa allows ample clinical and educational exposure to the anesthetic management of open and endovascular surgical cases for Anesthesiology residents. The department also runs College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited fellowship programs in
Vascular Anesthesiology and Peri-operative Echocardiography.
