Library Services is pleased to announce that we are finally able to offer
you remote access (i.e. from outside TOH) to most of our journals through Athens Authentication.
You may continue free access to journals from within TOH via myTOH/library link.
Athens is a service that is used by the NHS in Britain. It works with
publishers and institutions to ensure that users have remote access to
those journals that they are entitled to have access to without
compromising the security of in-house information or other contracts.
Previously you were not able to access journals from outside the hospital. Now you can do it in several ways:
through the A-Z list posted under journal collection, when you conduct searches in a database posted under
the database box or when you go straight to a publisher's website.
If the publisher is Athens compliant and we have a subscription to the journal, you will be able to enter your username and password and get access to the
full text of the journal. Contact library staff below to get signed up for this access.
Please note, you have to be TOH-affiliated staff to be able to access Athens. Holding only University of Ottawa-affiliated position does not entitle you to such access due to restrictions in our subscription licenses.
Login to Athens
Library staff may set up an RSS feeds from New England Journal of Medicine for you.
If you would like additional feeds set up, please let the library staff know before you
change your initial password. Library Services will be pleased to set these up for you.
You may also use MyAthens to view and connect to the services your account
is entitled to access.
